The card security code (CSC) is a three- or four-digit number, separate from the credit card number, that helps prevent fraud. To ensure the credit card is in the cardholder’s physical possession, the CSC appears only on the credit card and not on receipts or statements.

CSC The CSC is the three-digit number at the end of the account number panel on the back of the card.
American Express®
CSC The CSC is the four-digit number above and to the right of the account number on the front of the card.
